About the role
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable GL Accountant to cover a maternity leave. This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle accounting process, including month-end close, financial reporting, and payment processing. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Support month-end and quarter-end closing processes
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, including margin and operational reporting
- Manage commission calculations and coordinate related payments
- Process vendor payments and oversee regular payment cycles
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Prepare and file indirect tax returns (e.g., HST) and other regulatory reports
- Maintain cash flow forecasts
- Support fixed asset accounting and other periodic reporting
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, operations, warehouse) to ensure accurate financial data
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and month-end processes
- Experience with bank reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) is an asset
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing or distribution environment
- Familiarity with Canadian tax regulations (HST, WSIB, etc.)
- Mandarin Chinese language skills are preferred
Contract Details
- This is a temporary position to cover a maternity leave (duration: ~12 months, subject to change)
