About the role
Purpose: The k2i academy in the Lassonde School of Engineering is looking for Community Camp Program Mentors during the Summer to support of the planning and delivery of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programming for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. Community Camp Program Mentors will design hands-on STEM activities and programming, facilitate STEM research project activities, and deliver high-quality and active mentorship in the Bringing STEM to Life: Community Programs.
Education:
Current or recent undergraduate student.
Preference will be given to students in undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs of study.
Applicants in other areas of study are still encouraged to apply.
Experience:
Experience working with youth.
Previous experience working in a research lab is an asset.
Skills:
Ability to understand and demonstrate instructions, policies, and procedures.
Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate others towards learning new knowledge.
Ability to provide instruction and support others in developing knowledge or skills.
Ability to demonstrate responsible, ethical, and professional conduct.
Ability to verbally communicate with others to explain and share information.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and the Google G Suite including Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Slack.
Additional Notes:
Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the time of application.
Legally able to work in Canada.
Vulnerable Sector Police check required.
Ability to lift/move/carry equipment or material of varying weights up to 20lbs. Accommodations are available.
