Medicine Hat College is seeking a skilled and collaborative full-time regular Human Resources Consultant to join our Human Resources team.
####A little about the role:
This position plays a key role in supporting progressive HR practices and fostering a sustainable, engaged workforce aligned with the College’s evolving needs and strategic direction. Working collaboratively with leaders and employees across the institution, this position provides expert guidance and coaching in several core areas, including labour relations, performance achievement, job design and classification, recruitment and onboarding, retention and succession planning, compensation and benefits, HR policy & regulatory compliance, and HR information management systems. Success in this role requires building strong relationships, maintaining a deep understanding of HR best practices and emerging trends, and staying current with relevant legislation and collective agreements.
Annual Salary: $83,764

As a successful applicant you'll have:
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field OR an equivalent combination of related post-secondary education and relevant work experience may be considered.

A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is considered an asset.
Experience
-
Minimum of five years of directly related HR experience, preferably within a unionized environment.
Technical & Professional Skills and Expertise
-
Experience conducting employee and workplace investigations
-
Strong understanding of job evaluation, compensation, and workforce planning
-
Knowledge of collective agreements, policies, procedures and applicable legislative requirements
-
Proficiency in contract and policy interpretation, coaching, mediation/facilitation, documentation, project management, research/analysis

Experience working with HRIS systems; familiarity with Unit 4 Business World is an asset

- Comfortable navigating sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
