JOB DESCRIPTION
IT SERVICE DESK TECHNICIAN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) DEPARTMENT

Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology the IT Service Desk Technician provides support to the Information Technology Department. While some of these duties are of limited complexity, other duties involve a series of tasks that are more complex and technical in nature. The job requires adapting established methods or procedures. Work involves a choice of methods. The IT Service Desk Technician position provides computer and device support and technical assistance to end users as the first point of contact.
The IT Service Desk Technician is responsible for providing excellent interpersonal interactions and service with all internal and external contacts and providing administrative assistance to manager, foreman and employees.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Provides administrative support to the Information Technology Department.
· Supports and maintains the service desk system for Information Technology and make the Manager or Coordinator aware of emerging issues.
· Processes incoming tickets and responds to Level 0, as well as certain Level 1 tickets, by providing high-level assistance according to documented procedures
· Review incoming support requests for accuracy and completeness.
· Data entry using appropriate software such as active directory and Microsoft 365; as it relates to help desk requests from service desk system, telephone, and email.
· Provides SharePoint maintenance & SharePoint content management for IT and assistance to staff
· Inputs data into a variety of IT systems and processes confidential matters as required
· Answers and screens telephone, email, and personal inquiries, providing information, taking messages or referring to others where appropriate. For emergent situations, providing information or contacts as needed.
· Produces regular IT-related communication through MS 365 products to IT and district staff
· Assists with Asset Management
· Manages and maintains a variety of databases to prepare various reports.
· Packages mail, invoices, packing slips for delivery as required. Sorts and distributes incoming mail.
· Maintains, organizes and updates existing policy and procedure manuals, ensuring documented practices remain current, accessible, and aligned with approved district and IT standards.
· Maintains, organizes and updates existing IT documentation and reference materials, drawing from established team knowledge, vendor documentation, and approved sources.
· Utilizes the MS Office 365 Power Platform, SharePoint and CoPilot automate processes and produce reports.
· Performs other related duties as may be reasonably expected of a person in this position
Required Qualifications
· Completion of Grade 12
· Post-secondary certificate in Computer and Information Technology or Business Administration
Required Experience
· A minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in a related role
· Formal training or certificate in Office 365
· Formal training or certificate related to MS Power Platform
· Formal training or certificate in MS SharePoint Content Editing
Required Skills and Abilities
· Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use various software programs including SharePoint, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases (e.g., Microsoft office)
· Knowledge and experience working in an IT service desk related position.
· Knowledge and experience working with MS Power Platform and MS CoPilot
· Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to detail in preparation of correspondence, reports, and other materials
· Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate good public relations skills, exercising good judgment in dealing with a variety of enquiries
· Knowledge of Asset Management Systems
· Ability to set up formats and compose non-routine correspondence with general instructions from a supervisor
· Ability to be flexible and work with minimal supervision
· Ability to work co-operatively and maintain effective working relationships
· Proficient in the use of office software such as SharePoint, Word, and Excel
· Working knowledge of school district operations, policies and procedures
· Working knowledge of basic Information Technology as it pertains to SD 75** **
