###The Role
Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Accountant combines accounting skills with effective communication skills to provide accurate and appropriate financial information along with undertaking related accounts administration. This role is responsible for executing the month-end close and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.
###Key Responsibilities:
- Lead timely month-end close process such as preparing and posting journal entries in conjunction with Project Accounting.
- Analyze balance sheet accounts and resolve reconciling items while identifying root causes of discrepancies. Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in the general ledger.
- Oversee key accounting activities including reconciliations, accrual calculations, cost allocations, and account analysis.
- Analyze accounts to ensure accuracy and lead the team for monthly review with Head Office.
- Prepare weekly reporting including, but not limited to, Revenue Tracker, Sales and Order book, Cash Flow and Bank reconciliations.
- Manage costing and manufacturing postings in ERP and updating WIP schedule, weekly basis.
- Monthly tracking of project costs and revenue, monitoring budgets and performing margin analysis to support management decision-making.
- Coordinate with sales, operations, and project management to carry out tasks such as closing completed projects, Inventory adjustments and reports.
- Assist Controller in performing customer and project margin analysis.
- Support AP with coding questions, Concur batch posting and providing backup for contract hours.
- Assist in Treasury functions as required including initiating wire transfers and completing bank activities. Exposure to Foreign exchange contracts an asset.
- Assist Controller with monthly forecasting and annual budgeting, support Controller in performing other analysis as required.
- Help build and maintain an environment of strong internal controls along with recommending process improvements.
- Provide financial support and analysis to other areas of the business, assist with Year-end Inventory count.
- Provide support for ERP, including evaluation, testing and implementation of upgrades
###Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting role
- Recognized Accounting Designation (CPA) or recently obtained
- Technical accounting knowledge and ability to incorporate that knowledge and synthesize information into actionable recommendations and analysis
- Detail oriented with ability to analyze data and circumstances
- Team player with strong presence; self-starter & proactive problem solver
- In-depth understanding of ERP systems
- High level of proficiency in Excel
- Accurate worker; attention to detail and able to work to strict deadlines
- Strong written and oral communication skills
