The Big Picture

The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing production plans that support both ongoing manufacturing operations and new product development (NPD) activities. This role owns the end‑to‑end translation of demand, project timelines, and constraints into executable production plans. The Production Planner is expected to demonstrate strong ownership, rapid learning, advanced analytical capability, structured problem‑solving, and clear communication while supporting products through testing, limited market release, and full commercial launch in a regulated medical device environment.

Core Production Planning & Execution:

• Own production plans and schedules from creation through execution, actively managing changes, risks, and trade‑offs.
• Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer demand, inventory targets, raw material availability, and manufacturing capacity.
• Balance short‑term execution with long‑term capacity planning to identify risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities; proactively communicate risks with clear, data‑backed recovery options.
• Set and continuously adjust production priorities based on customer demand, service‑level targets, and project timelines, using a customer‑first and analytics‑driven decision approach.
• Partner closely with Production Managers and Team Leaders to resolve bottlenecks, manage shared resources, and improve throughput.
• Support Buyers by providing accurate production plans, forecasts, and capacity signals to enable timely raw material procurement.
• Prepare and present production, inventory, capacity, and service‑level performance for weekly production and operations meetings.
• Participate in daily tier meetings to support achievement of production targets and rapid issue resolution

New Product Development & Launch Planning:

• Own production planning activities for new product development, including engineering builds, testing phases, validation runs, limited market releases, and commercial launches.
• Translate NPD project plans into executable production schedules, material strategies, capacity models, and inventory plans.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure build readiness and launch alignment.
• Develop data‑driven ramp‑up strategies that balance NPD demand with ongoing production while protecting customer supply and service levels.
• Identify, assess, and clearly communicate capacity, material, and process risks associated with new product introductions, proposing quantitative mitigation and recovery scenarios.
• Support build readiness activities, including BOM accuracy, routings, lead times, inventory strategies, and system readiness for new products.
• Track, analyze, and report progress against NPD milestones, launch readiness, and execution performance.

Cross-Functional & Quality Collaboration:

• Act as a primary planning point of contact for cross‑functional stakeholders, providing clear, timely, and structured communication supported by data.
• Work closely with Quality teams to support job closures, non‑conformance resolution, incoming inspection prioritization, and change management activities.
• Assess the impact of engineering changes, documentation updates, and process changes on production plans, inventory, and downstream stakeholders using quantitative impact analysis.
• When required, support communication with internal and external customers regarding production status, risks, and recovery plans.

Data, Analytics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement:

• Apply strong analytical skills to evaluate production performance, inventory health, capacity utilization, and service‑level trends.
• Build and maintain planning models, scenario analyses, and what‑if simulations to support decision‑making under uncertainty.
• Prepare and maintain dashboards, reports, and planning tools using Excel and ERP/MRP systems; leverage data to drive insights rather than only reporting status.
• Identify root causes of planning and execution issues using data analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement by simplifying planning processes, improving data accuracy, and reducing planning‑related disruptions.
• Contribute to supply chain, planning, and operational improvement projects as assigned.

Your Unique Expertise

######Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or Science
• 3–5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including data analysis, complex formulas, scenario modeling, and reporting.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable plans.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and converting system outputs into executable production and capacity plans.
• Experience with dashboards, KPIs, or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI or similar) is an asset.
• Structured, data‑driven problem‑solving capability.

This role has a base salary range of $69,000 CAD to $113,000 CAD. Final offers are determined based on individual skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors.
