About the role
Desjardins Global Asset Management (DGAM) is looking for a portfolio manager to join its Fixed Income team. DGAM is one of Canada’s largest institutional portfolio managers, with in-house expertise in equity, fixed-income securities and real assets. Based in Montreal, the Fixed Income team manages bonds and preferred shares across a range of mandates and strategies, with over $76 billion in assets under management. We’re seeking a fixed income portfolio manager to join our team and support the growth of our indexing and ALM (Asset Liability Management) mandates. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in the bond market, preferably with experience in the high-yield US market. If you are dynamic, enjoy taking on challenges and want to grow in a stimulating environment, we woud love to meet you. More specifically, you will be required to:
- Contribute to the implementation of new investment solutions for tracking international indexes
- Optimize and manage index portfolios to minimize tracking errors
- Develop and maintain monitoring and analysis tools to foster a high level of expertise in your sector
- Build and maintain relationships with market players
- Trade bonds and other financial instruments (currencies, derivatives, etc.)
- Analyze and provide recommendations on consent solicitations for high-yield bonds in the portfolio
- Work closely with other portfolio managers and take over certain mandates/portfolios
- Carry out analyses or other ad hoc projects required by the team

What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience as a portfolio manager
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- CFA designation completed
- Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with english-speaking partners, members and/or clients
- Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment that calls for strong initiative, sound judgment, precision and efficiency, with the capacity to perform well under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong computer skills (advanced Excel, VBA, Bloomberg, Office suite)
- In-depth knowledge of the market and bond indexes, along with the ability to develop tools to optimize them
- Applied knowledge of derivatives and foreign exchange
