Job Description RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Position Summary Department / Research Program: RESP

The Community Research Liaison and Data Coordinator leads community engagement and supports organizational and writing for the project developing the “Calls to Action by Nunavimmiut for Eliminating Tuberculosis in Nunavik” (also referred to as “The TB Declaration”), funded through the CIHR project grant Decolonizing TB Healthcare Through Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit: developing Nunavimmiut-led solutions to the continuing crises of TB and inadequate healthcare in Nunavik.
As the Community Research Liaison and Data Coordinator, the job is to ensure the conduct of community consultations conducted in Nunavik via Parnasimautik or other locally-appropriate methods, and to contribute to putting together the results of the consultations.
They will work closely with the co-principal investigators, the Project Manager, and the entire study team, including Nunavik Inuit community partners, Nunavik health sector partners, and Nunavik local and regional government and other organizations to make sure that the consultations take place, and have substantial participation by a diverse representation of community members within the village that the consultation is occurring.
General Duties Under the direct supervision of the principal investigators (Faiz Ahmad Khan, Natasha Ita MacDonald, Glenda Sandy) the incumbent:
- Supports the Project Manager in developing & organizing the community fora, in Nunavik, using the Parnasimautik format as an example, to inform the generation of the TB Declaration.
- Leads outreach to Nunavik community members, as well as leaders at municipal, local, and regional level, in particular mayors and their assigned representatives.
- Leads communications (initial and follow-up) to Inuit-led Nunavik community groups and community organizations and has primary responsibility for ensuring that, in each community where consultations will take place, meetings are held with mayors, council members, wellness or health committee members, and other local leaders, well in advance of the planned consultations.
- Has primary responsibility for ensuring that input from representatives of each community are used to adjust the consultation method when necessary, and for working with stakeholders in the community to ensure high participation.
- Leads (facilitates) the community-wide consultations on tuberculosis and health in multiple communities (villages) in Nunavik that will be used to inform the Nunavik TB Declaration
- Plays a leading role in developing the content of community consultations surrounding the TB declaration by providing input on questions, guides, audiovisuals, advertising, social media.
- Leads our team in supporting community and municipal partners in adopting the Parnasimautik approach for consultation, or adapting our consultations to their preferred local approach
- Contributes to writing of messaging, documents, summaries, related to any work undertaken for the TB Declaration
- Supports other team members with logistical aspects of organizing consultations, including but not limited to: identifying places and people to work with to undertake the consultations, holding celebratory events pre/post consultations, interpreters
- During the consultations, helps to troubleshoot unexpected circumstances that may arise with support of other team members
- Liaises with team members and entities implicated in the research project on a variety of subjects, such as communications, reporting and organization of meetings.
- Performs other duties (administrative) directly related to the research project as required or assigned by the Principal Investigators.
- Identifies additional support needs to successfully execute their work, and works with Principal Investigators to establish them.

Other education considered an asset for this position: Lived experience in Nunavik with more than of 10 years experience in municipal or regional government in Nunavik.
Work Experience: 10 years
Required Skills
- Knowledge of French is required,
- An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English,
- An advanced knowledge of oral and written Inuktitut is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with Nunavik community members who are exclusively proficient in Inuktitut,
- 10 years experience in municipal or regional government in Nunavik ,
- Leadership skills: Bringing together a variety of stakeholders to collaborate on a common goal, leading a community in undertaking a general consultation on issues of health significance,
- Time management: Adheres to scheduled meetings, ability to schedule different meetings during the week,
- Math and budgeting: track their own hours,
- Analytical skills: Needs analytical skills in order to solve problems that come up during a typical work day.
Additional information
Status : Temporary Occasional
Pay Scale : $27.32 - $50.74. Commensurate with education and work experience.
Work Shift : Variable Schedule
Work Site : 100% Remote
