Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Kitchen Assistant/Prep person is to assist in the day-to-day preparation of meals and maintenance of safety, order, and cleanliness in the kitchen, supply, and service areas as well as supervision of patient’s duties.
Note that this is a part time line which requires flexibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists or prepares food as required (i.e. salads, condiments, vegetables, and fruit).
- Utilizes recipes for all food production.
- Adheres to menu quantity and quality practices to meet standards for Bridges.
- Assists with meal service as directed by cook.
- Assist cooks in safely securing all food when not in use or after use.
- Assists or stores deliveries in an organized manner.
- Follows kitchen procedures and communication guidelines.
- Maintenance of clean and sanitary food service areas, including dining room.
- Applies Foodsafe practices to food prep, service, and storage areas.
- Able to use kitchen equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Reports equipment failures to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains safety and cleaning checklists as required (i.e. sanitizer strength testing, weekly cleaning).
- Safe control over all sharps (knife checks), reporting discrepancies immediately.
- Be conversant with cleaning standards, routines, and expectations.
- Assist in the instruction and supervision of patients in their duties.
- Performance of all related duties as assigned. (i.e. Rascal’s salad prep, functions, etc.)
Requirements and Qualifications
- Preference given for minimum 1 year commercial kitchen experience.
- Certified food handler certificate required
- Demonstrated knowledge of food quality, production, sanitation and presentation required.
- Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling required.
- Effective communication skills.
- Highly effective teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
