The Nelson Police Department is seeking an experienced, dedicated Police Detective to join our team. As one of the oldest and most respected departments in British Columbia, we take pride in serving our community with integrity, professionalism, and commitment to public safety.

Eligibility Requirements You may be eligible for the position of Police Detective if you:

Are currently a serving member of a Canadian police force;
-
Have a minimum of five years of policing experience;
-
Have successfully completed the Major Crime Investigative Course;

Have successfully completed the B.C. Provincial Exemption Exam;
-
Are self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal skills;
-
Have experience operating under the Major Case Management (MCM) model;
-
Have experience overseeing and directing complex investigations;
-
Communicate effectively and liaise with a wide range of community members;
-
Demonstrate the ability to work closely with Crown Counsel to achieve positive outcomes;
-
Have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with members of diverse communities.
Compensation

Salary: $129,042 annually
