About the role
Job Overview:
Responsible for moving product throughout warehouse and loading/unloading trailers. Assists in shipping and receiving. As a Forklift Operator, incumbent is required to have a strong understanding of the lift, the loads being carried, productivity measures and safety procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reports to the shipping office at the beginning of each shift for the daily assignment, vehicle inspection sheet and replenishment discrepancies sheet.
- Inspects assigned lift and completes vehicle inspection sheet.
- Replenishes pick slots using the view request screen. If no requests exist, uses the manual replenish screen to fill empty or almost empty slots.
- Performs replenishments for warehouse associates when needed.
- Performs all pallet-sorting duties
- Maintains correct counts and logs any discrepancies in inventory.
- Verifies that the correct product is being put in the appropriate pick location.
- Perform Putaway tasks as required.
- Stages orders in appropriate outbound staging lanes for ease of loading
- Inspects assigned jack for safety issues - - urns on single and dual temp trailers refrigerator units at proper times
- Loads trucks in sequence based on delivery schedule and routing using at least 5 load bars per route to ensure a secure delivery.
- Distributes finished load sheets to the inside of the trailer, as well as to the Dispatcher and Driver
- Keeps area clean and debris out of work area during work hours.
- Operates pallet jack in safe and efficient manner
- Removes debris and empty pallets from the dock upon completion of loading.
- Reports any discrepancies in pallet counts, missing repack or unsound pallets to the supervisor or manager.
Job Requirements:
Experience:
- Previous Forklift experience required.
- Forklift license for Raymond Reach truck.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Have an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions and to deal with ordinary, standardized situations. Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding; subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two digit numbers; the four basic arithmetic operations with money; and operations with units such as inch, foot, yard; ounce, and pound.
- Able to read and communicate in English.
- Able to repetitively lift, load, unload, and/or move product weighing between 5-50 lbs when required.
- Able to work in different areas of the warehouse when needed (dry, cooler, and freezer)
Additional Requirements:
- Must have steel toe shoes.
Onsite Role:
- This position requires the associate to perform all duties at our Richmond, BC distribution center.
Warehouse Roles:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.
- Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
- Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work-related equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
