JOB SUMMARY:

An employee hired to prepare and or assist in the preparation of meals and supervise students learning food preparation in an instructional kitchen/cafeteria. This employee is responsible to an assigned supervisor.

POSITION : TEMPORARY until the return of the incumbent or June 25, 2026.
HOURS OF WORK : 40 hrs/wk. 7:00 -15:30 When school is in session for students.
WAGE RATE : As per CUPE agreement $30.75

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Possess or working towards a valid inter-provincial Journeyman Cook Certificate (Red Seal)
• Food Safe Certificate
• Minimum of three years' experience in institutional and/or commercial food preparation

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Supervise and instruct students in assigned learning situations and food preparation assignments as required. Report on student progress to administration.
• Assist in the demonstration and instruction of students in proper food preparation, cooking and baking methods, procedures and techniques, safety habits, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Cook, bake, and perform other food-preparation duties for daily breakfast and lunch programs and special events.
• Assist with the preparation of breakfast and lunch recipes and menus.
• Assist in the ordering of food and supplies, and maintain inventory levels.
• Operate and maintain standard kitchen tools and appliances.
• Participates in kitchen clean­up routine.
• Manage cash register sales and maintain records.
• Perform other job-related duties.
