About the role
Department: Central Intake Ontario - North East Mental Health & Addictions Hub
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Graduate of a Community College in Office Administration Business/Medical Administration and/or three years relative experience required
- Knowledge and applied experience working in healthcare, preferably in mental health and addictions required
- Keyboarding (45 wpm/95% accuracy) and Data Entry (6200 kph/95% accuracy) skills required
- Adept skills with navigating Meditech Expanse (e.g. patient registration) and associated administrative functions (e.g. payroll) required
- Extensive experience with data entry and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
Skills/Abilities:
- Fundamental graphic design skills required; additional certifications in graphic design are an asset
- Demonstrated person-family centered skills and experience interacting with individuals with mental health, substance use, dementia, and other neurological conditions required
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental health and addiction services and resources across the region
- Demonstrated knowledge of Consent & Capacity legislation, Mental Health Act, Personal Healthcare Information Protection Act, Hospitals Act
- Ability to navigate and support the execution of videoconference meetings on various electronic platforms (e.g. OTN) and software (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.) required
- Certificate/equivalent applied skills in medical terminology required
- Current Trauma Informed Care Certificate required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire)
- Current Indigenous Cultural Safety Training required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire)
- Demonstrated organization and time management skills to maintain multiple projects and meet competing deadlines required
- Skill and experience in supporting and collaborating with other team departments (e.g. Facilities) to manage day to day operational clinic site matters (e.g. flagging preventative safety measures; initiating impromptu work order requests; coordination of contractors, etc.) required
- Must be self-directed, motivated and adaptive to change as required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written) with a high degree of professionalism, tact and diplomacy to effectively manage confidential/sensitive information required
- Experiences drafting correspondence and demonstrated competency with minute-taking and other professional administrative documentation required
- Proven ability to work as an effective team player required
- Demonstrated awareness and values to support integrated care and cultural safety required
- Must demonstrate organizational commitment to ensure their safety and prevention of adverse health events, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors required
- Good attendance and work record required
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.

About North Bay Regional Health Centre
The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario
NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.
NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.
NBRHC’s Regional Mental Health Services provides inpatient beds in North Bay and Sudbury and outpatient and outreach services that throughout the region—from Hudson Bay to Muskoka from Sault Ste. Marie to the Quebec border.
A major teaching centre for students in medicine, psychiatry, nursing and allied health professions, NBRHC is proud to be affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, Nipissing University, Canadore College and several other Ontario colleges and universities.
