Temporary Full-time

The Infrastructure, Transportation & Parks Department requires a temporary full-time Labourer 3 to join the Urban Forestry team for approximately 15 months. In this position, you will assist the Urban Forestry team with the maintenance of the City’s urban forest, natural areas, and trails. Duties include invasive plant management, ecological restoration, trail clearing, tree planting and care, and a variety of urban forestry and heavy labour activities.
You will operate power and hand tools and assist with park and natural area work. You may also act as Lead Hand, supervising small crews and performing other related duties as required.
You will have experience performing outdoor maintenance work and safely operating the tools and equipment used in urban forestry and natural area maintenance. Experience operating chainsaws, brush cutters, chippers, and other landscape or forestry equipment is an asset.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork, leadership and public relations skills and be capable of performing heavy manual work outdoors in all weather conditions while following safe work practices and procedures.
A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence is required. Experience or training in urban forestry, ecological restoration, or natural areas management is an asset.
Salary:
$36.23 per hour
(2026 rates)
Hours of Work:
7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
