Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Mental Health Liaison will provide addiction and mental health assessment, triage and referral, as well as crisis intervention, post discharge, de-escalation and short-term brief solution focused therapy as well as community prevention and promotion work. This position will be a resource for inpatient, community and clinic team members for connecting clients with adjunctive community supports. Knowledge of community-based services will be expected.
Description:
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
This position will require the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and the flexibility to adjust to the demands of ongoing program development. The Mental Health Liaison works as a collaborative support service to provide mental health, addiction and risk assessments to the adults and youth referred. The Mental Health Liaison will be required to liaise with other staff in the hospital as well as have significant knowledge with both facility and community resources in order to effectively assess and refer clients appropriately. Knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act is essential. Appropriate documentation and statistical data collection required. Liaise with community partners and other related duties as required. Membership in professional association/college as per The Health Professions Act. Cultural competency in trauma traditions and healing practices that support addiction and mental health prevention, recovery and health promotion. Mental Health assessment and crisis response, addiction counseling and brief therapy. 5 years' community experience in mental health/addictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Therapy experience with therapy modality training.
