Senior Database Developer and Consultant
Contract I Remote
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Developer/Consultant to support enterprise-level database initiatives within a fast-paced and highly regulated environment. This role will focus on supporting and modernizing complex database systems while assisting with ongoing operational and development activities.The ideal candidate is technically strong, capable of working independently, and comfortable handling production support responsibilities in addition to development and database optimization work. This role also requires flexibility in working hours, including occasional late afternoon or evening responsiveness for urgent support needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and support existing database architectures, stored procedures, and complex data models.
- Assist in modernization efforts involving legacy database systems and evolving business requirements.
- Design, develop, and optimize database schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, and related database objects.
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable database solutions.
- Support production database operations, troubleshooting, and performance tuning activities.
- Implement and maintain robust data integrity, auditability, and security controls.
- Contribute to data migration, ETL, and integration initiatives.
- Assist in coordinating development and support activities across distributed teams.
- Provide guidance and mentorship on database best practices and development standards.
- Participate in Agile delivery processes and maintain technical documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Atleast 8 years of experience in database development, database administration, or data engineering within enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise with MySQL and/or SQL Server technologies.
- Prior experience supporting large-scale global banking or financial services environments.
- Deep understanding of: Database performance tuning and optimization, Data modeling and schema design, ETL and integration processes, Database operational support and troubleshooting
- Experience supporting production systems with time-sensitive operational requirements.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including occasional late afternoon/evening support for urgent production issues or client requests.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SSIS, SSRS, Tableau, or similar reporting/integration tools.
- Exposure to cloud database environments and modernization initiatives.
- Familiarity with Microsoft technologies such as .NET, C#, APIs, or related platforms.
- Experience working within Agile and DevSecOps environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
