REPORTS TO: Retail Coffee & Convenience Store Manager: Camille Goodale & Lake St Student Manager
START DATE: ASAP
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ability to prioritize role while balancing class load is a must to succeed in position. Preferred availability over all breaks, including summer.
HOURS REQUIRED: Minimum 10 hours/week on the floor & commitment to weekly meetings
RATE OF PAY: $16/hour base pay + Cash Tips
Responsibilities
Responsible for helping oversee student employees and being the communication liaison between staff and Student Manager, and ensuring professional behavior and conduct is always performed. Delegates tasks when the manager is away, and oversees that other employees are following through with their assigned duties. This includes, but is not limited to, marketing, inventory, food safety protocol, disciplinary processes, etc.
Assists manager with overseeing all shop operations, ensuring the shop is running effectively and efficiently. Expresses ideas on how to improve the shop.
Must be able to relay relevant and pertinent information with student staff and Dining Services Pro Staff.
Ensures all food safety and sanitation standards are adhered to in the areas of food handling, food storage, work areas, and employee attire. Attends Environmental Health Services special departmental trainings with staff. Assists with managing the proper operation, sanitation, and routine maintenance of all equipment.
Updates employee handbook, as necessary, and all other shop paperwork/policies, as necessary. Must be transparent with student staff about any changes and assist them in learning and upholding the changes as well.
Aids the student manager in the hiring process, including but not limited to, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and completing paperwork with those hired.
Aids in the training of new staff on register, EBT, stocking, cleaning duties and the proper use/cleaning of equipment.
Attends weekly management meetings with Assistant Director of Retail Operations and Retail Coffee Manager.
Provides excellent customer service and gives guidance to staff on interacting with customers, handling complaints/suggestions, and answering questions regarding food allergens.
Responsible for problem-solving for any event or incidents on the floor. Contacts appropriate person if problem arises.
Accountable for enforcing all policies, procedures, and practices in the handbook. Able to carry out the disciplinary procedures, including verbal warnings and write-ups.
Creates and implements different marketing strategies, including flyers, social media posts, etc.
Assists student manager with inventory management through CoreMark, High Country Beverage, etc.
Any other duties as assigned by student manager.
Required Skills
must be proficient in English, with good written and oral skills.
able to or willing to learn how to provide excellent customer service in stressful situations.
