Electromyography (EMG) Technologist
DEPARTMENT:

7.5 hours per shift (subject to change)

OPSE06 $40.98/hr $50.51/hr
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform complete patient care in the electromyography, perform tests and interpret
- Perform ongoing quality assurance and participate as a team member in developing protocols for research
- Teach specialized test procedure techniques, operation and care as required
- Assist physician with special procedures
- Maintain records of all tests performed, provide advice on health and safety matters and keep equipment clean and operational
- Demonstrate QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation, respect
REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma from a recognized college with an accredited program in Electronics/Physiology or a Bachelor’s degree in Science
- Certification or working towards certification from the Association of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (A.E.T.C.)
- Registered with Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists (C.S.C.N.) an asset
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology technique and practice, with emphasis on infection control standards
- Good knowledge of electro diagnosis instrumentation and equipment including electrodes, pattern recognition and various medical and pharmacological conditions that influence the tests being performed
- Excellent interpersonal, listening skills, written and verbal communication skills; time management, cognitive, analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong presentation and training skills

- Working knowledge of hospital computer software programs
