Intent of the process
The immediate need is to staff one (1) full-time 5-year term positions in Ottawa, ON.A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, language requirements/ profile(s), security requirements, conditions of employment and for various locations.

Operational Requirements
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willing and able to work overtime as required.
- Willing and able to travel within Canada and abroad, including travel by car, rail, and air, with overnight stay.
- Willing and able to lead and participate in meetings in person and via telepresence.
- Willing and able to deliver presentations to the public and the media.
- Willing and able to participate in field operations in urban, rural and wilderness environments.
- Able to perform standby during off-hours and work on-call on a rotational basis as space weather duty forecaster.
- Valid driver’s license.

EDUCATION
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

EXPERIENCE
- Experience processing and analyzing scientific data.
- Experience in programming and software development.

KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of a physical sciences field; particularly space physics.
- Knowledge of space weather hazards.
ABILITIES
- Ability to analyze scientific data.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
