The Spiritual Care Practitioner inspires hope, empowers healing, and makes space for meaningful change in care journeys by providing comprehensive and individual-centered care to patients, families, and staff. Engaging in a collaborative process with patients, communities, organizations and other institutions, the Spiritual Care Practitioner uses interventions informed by spirituality, religion, psychology, counselling theories, ethical standards, human diversity and a range of human traditions
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads clinical psychospiritual therapy and counselling to patients, families, and staff by assessment and recommended treatment – including planning, implementing, evaluating, modifying and documenting spiritual care plans in accordance with hospital and any regulation standards.
- Liaise and build relationships with community clergy, spiritual leaders, volunteers and community associations and community partners to enhance continuum of spiritual care within the Hospital.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of departmental policies, procedures, training material and manuals as Subject Matter Expert to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develops, records, and reports key performance metrics including workload statistics.
- Provide education/in-service for staff regarding the role of Spiritual Care & Cultural Competency as required.
- Acts as back-up to the On-call Spiritual Care Practitioner Team to ensure continuity of service 24/7.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in with a related focus in Theology, Pastoral Studies or Divinity
- Two (2) years experience within a healthcare setting
- Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Certificate
- Holds Advanced Standing with Canadian Association for Spiritual Care
- Experience in grief and bereavement care and counselling
