About the role
POSITION OVERVIEW
Join us as a Summer Student and help to Create Care Inspired by Community in East Toronto! This position is offered through the support of Government of Canada-Canada Summer Jobs Program. All applicants must meet the minimum requirements of this program.
As part of the Infectious Diseases Division, the student is responsible for assisting in quality improvement and research projects, which includes data collection, data organization and analysis.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with data collection, input and analysis for infectious diseases related projects
- Using technical skills to re-arrange data for analytic purposes
- Assist with data analysis, evaluation and report writing for various projects
- Assist with tracking deadlines, reports, and project milestones
- Collect, input, organize, and update infectious diseases data and documentation using a variety of tools including REDCapTM databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software
- Work within the research team

EDUCATION
- High school diploma, required
- Enrollment in a relevant post-secondary program, required. Healthcare related or business field, preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Proficient computer skills (adept with Microsoft products, especially Excel)
- Proficient in computer programming using R or python (or equivalent) to perform data abstraction and reorganization
- Creation of reproducible reports
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Demonstrated flexibility with the ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task and prioritize work
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality with respect to all aspects of work being performed
- Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail oriented, accurate and efficient
- Ability to work as part of a team, with an eagerness to learn, and comfort to ask questions, is essential to success in this position
- Good word processing, electronic mail etiquette, and team communication skills are required.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are required
