Position Summary
Elmwood School, a renowned International Baccalaureate World School for girls from Kindergarten to Grade 12, is situated in the heart of Ottawa and boasts over a century of educational excellence. We are dedicated to fostering a dynamic, inspiring learning environment supported by our experienced and committed faculty and staff. Elmwood School is seeking applications from dynamic, innovative teachers for two summer credit courses in Grade 10 (MPM2D) and Grade 11 Math (MCR3U), both of which will run from June 26 to July 17, 2026.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic foundation in math and be skilled at developing and delivering engaging, comprehensive programming tailored to our students' diverse learning needs. While experience in an International Baccalaureate School and in an all-girls learning environment is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Applications from newly qualified teachers are welcome.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in teaching Grade 10 Academic Principles of Mathematics (MPM2D) or Grade 11 Functions (MCR3U) or equivalent courses.
- Experience with IB Diploma Math or a similar advanced math curriculum is preferred.
- Demonstrated passion, creativity, and alignment with the school's mission.
- Collaborative spirit to work effectively within a team of dynamic educators.
- A degree in Math or a related field, with an advanced degree being an asset.
- Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers or equivalent.
- Insight into the benefits of teaching in an all-girls learning environment.
- Capability to teach in a technology-enhanced classroom.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver an engaging, comprehensive course program aligned with the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum.
- Complete daily attendance, create daily lesson plans, manage assessment and marking (70% coursework, 30% final assessment/exam), and enter all grades into Elmwood’s Student Information System.
- Issue both midterm and final report cards with grades, learning skills marks, and brief comments.
- Maintain open communication with Parents, the Summer School Principal, and Summer School Colleagues.
- Attending an onboarding session, virtual or in person, as arranged prior to the start of summer school.
Hours and Compensation:
- 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m from June 26 to July 17, 2026 Compensation is $6500.00 for the contract term.
