Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
- Operates, tests & maintains test equipment using standard approaches and/or equipment with guidance and support from others.
- Troubleshoots circuits from system to component level, using knowledge of complex technical data (i.e. difficult to analyze, understand or solve, such as printed circuit board density, software and code functionality, smart chips, etc.) Performs rework as required (mechanical assembly, basic soldering); identifies and resolves technical issues.
- Records, understands, identifies & interprets schematic diagrams, drawings, parts lists, bills of materials, assembly processes, quality tracking systems, failure reports, quality charts, process routing sheets, acceptance test procedures and tests results.
- Conducts preventative and corrective maintenance/calibration on various conventional, numerical control, computer numerical control machinery (e.g. power supply or a temperature chamber), peripherals and controls of a straightforward nature with guidance and direction.
- Mentors/trains technicians in the debugging and testing of product.
- Performs other related duties as required
Complexity
- Requires making decisions and exercising judgments by interpreting the results of accepted and standard test procedures and results. There are a wide variety of problems that must be analyzed, dependent on the equipment and the documentation provided, and the employee is expected to various techniques to diagnose and resolve the problem.
Initiative and Accountability
- Work is assigned regularly through instructions and diagrams. Initiative is required to assess and troubleshoot technical problems as they relate to equipment operations from both a software and firmware perspective. Is expected to problem solve and identify solutions to straightforward problems using instructions, procedures or standards.
- Questions of interpretation would be referred to others; guidance and direction is available from others.
- Accountable for the timely completion and quality of own work and the safeguarding of people and equipment. Decisions and actions will have a direct impact on others abilities to operate the equipment and will result in loss of time for others in correct.
Communication and Guidance Giving

Communicates effectively with team members and interacts with internal customers. Must be able to gather information from others, outside the immediate team, and to discuss the technical, operational and maintenance requirements of the equipment. Keeps team members and supervisor informed of progress and situations requiring attention of others.

Provides guidance to other staff in the demonstrating how equipment and/or product works and provide training on the equipment and/or product.

Contributes ideas to improve processes.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Requires a three year College Diploma as an Electronics Technologist or equivalent
- Up to and including three months of related work experience.
How We Work
-**Work Schedule:**40 hours per week -**Work Arrangement:**On-site
Effort (Physical/Sensory) & Working Environment
Physical Effort
- Required to sit extensively in a workstation or at equipment (i.e. 90% of time) to complete work using a computer. Repetitive hand/finger movement is required for continuous periods of time. Required at times to handle/push carts containing test equipment and units (>50lbs).
Sensory Effort
- High degree of visual attention and concentration for periods of time (75%) required in the troubleshooting and debugging of software codes.
Work Environment

General office environment for 10% to 20% of time and remainder of time is spent on the production floor troubleshooting equipment.
Additional Information
The hiring rate for this position is $28.44.
