Child and Youth Worker - Permanent FT - Various Locations (1.0 FTE)
About the role
CHILD AND YOUTH WORKER
Full-time - 35 Hours per Week - 10 Month Position
Effective: September 2, 2026; Duration: Permanent
Qualifications
Successful completion of a three-year post secondary child and youth worker diploma program plus a minimum of two years related job experience in child youth work; Good working knowledge of relevant legislation and the developmental needs of children/youth; Strong knowledge of group work practice and the ability to function effectively in group work; Ability to function independently within the framework of a team. Self-starter with strong, organizational skills and the ability to manage caseload duties; Ability to deal with students in a calm, compassionate and professional manner; Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information; Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Duties/Responsibilities
Participate, as required, in meeting the social, emotional and behavioural objectives for students; Assist in planning social, emotional and behavioral management programs, including participation in the delivery to students; Provide support in collaboration with teachers, parents and other support services; Assist in implementing therapeutic programs to individual and small groups of students; Provide counseling and crisis intervention to individuals and groups; Observe and monitor students’ behavior and inform teacher/principal of progress; Liaise with parents and community agencies as required through the Principal; Deliver disciplinary measures in accordance with the Code of Behavior and Catholic values; Attend and participate in staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned; Perform other related duties as assigned by the Child and Youth Worker Supervisor.
