Your New Company
A well-established organization is seeking a Finance Administrator to join its finance team on a 3-month contract. Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance, this position will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting function, ensuring timely processing of financial transactions and maintaining the accuracy of financial records. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a hands-on role within a collaborative environment and is looking to further develop their experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, month-end activities, and financial administration.
Your New Role
As the Finance Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the full accounting cycle, with a primary focus on accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently while contributing to process improvements and maintaining strong financial controls. This is a detail-oriented role that requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring appropriate approvals, coding, and supporting documentation are obtained Prepare and execute payment runs, including EFTs and other payment methods Process employee and Board member expense reports in a timely manner Reconcile corporate credit card transactions and verify supporting documentation Investigate and resolve vendor statement discrepancies Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable subledger reconciliations Prepare and issue invoices to clients and stakeholders Apply incoming payments and process credit card transactions Respond to billing, payment, and account inquiries from internal and external stakeholders Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate financial records Perform bank reconciliations and investigate variances Support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and account analysis Assist with year-end audit preparation and documentation requests Coordinate GST/HST filings and maintain financial compliance requirements Maintain organized financial records and filing systems Provide backup support for payroll-related functions as required Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives Provide general administrative support to the finance team
What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum 2 years of accounting or finance administration experience Hands-on experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes Experience performing reconciliations, including bank, vendor, and subledger reconciliations Knowledge of journal entries, month-end procedures, and financial reporting support Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and lookup functions Experience using accounting software such as Sage 50 or similar ERP/accounting systems Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and proactively resolve discrepancies Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline Nice to Have Experience with Sage 50 Exposure to Ceridian Dayforce or similar payroll systems Previous experience within a not-for-profit organization Experience with GST/HST filings Experience supporting government-funded projects Exposure to e-commerce platforms Bilingualism in English and French (preferred)
