JOB DESCRIPTION
St. Jude Elementary in Vancouver is seeking a dedicated and passionate Educational Assistant and After School Club Supervisor to fill a short-term position on our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, a commitment to working with neurodiverse children, and a passion for helping students succeed.
The Educational Assistant Employee’s duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Collaborating with the classroom teacher and Learning Resource Teacher by,
- Providing classroom support to students with varying levels of need both one on one and in small group
- Supervising and supporting students during independent work and group activities
- Helping to implement individualized education plans for students
- Tracking learning goals related to the individualized education plan
- Participating in Grade-level meetings with the classroom teacher and Learning Resource Teacher
- Attending and participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required
- Interacting professionally and discretely with students, parents, and other staff
The After School Supervisor Employee’s duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Organize activities for the after-school club students that are engaging, safe, fun, and respectful of student age and ability;
- Supervise a range of students (both age and ability) and maintain a safe and caring environment;
- Track attendance in the club and report data to office administration;
- Maintain professional and cordial relationships with parents;
- Communicate with parents and administration on safety concerns;
- Supervise students until the last student is picked up and report all lateness to office administration;
Qualifications:
- Certification in education or related field is preferred
- Experience working with children with neurodiverse abilities is preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work as a team member and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Practicing Catholic applicants are preferred
