About the role
Applications are invited from teachers with
**BC ****Certification ** for the following teaching position:
Sea View Elementary School, Port Alice, BC
0.51 FTE Continuing – Library, LART, and ELL
Commencing: September 1, 2026
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- elementary teaching experience;
- ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies;
- a degree or diploma in Special Education with coursework in diagnosis and remediation of reading and math difficulties, behavior intervention, and Level B testing;
- university coursework and experience in assessing and working with learners in ELL programs;
- academic training, qualifications, and recent successful experience as a teacher librarian;
- strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills to communicate with students, staff, and parents in a team oriented approach to teaching and learning;
- experience developing and implementing student individual education plans and providing programming for students with low incidence designations;
- ability to integrate technology to enhance student learning;
- experience with RTI (Response to Intervention) systems; and
- ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.
The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $66,299 to $116,016, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The Remote Recruitment and Retention allowance is available for SD85 teachers payable at $3,126 over ten months.
