The Port Moody Community Services Department is seeking personable, experienced and dynamic Speciality Instructors to assist with classes for preschool and school-aged children. This position is responsible for supporting a variety of programs in a recreational setting and provides a safe and secure environment for children.
Hours & Availability Requirements:
Monday - Friday from 8:45AM to 11:45AM
Tuesday - Thursday from 12:15PM to 2:30PM
These shifts are for June 2026 through to Fall 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the lead educator in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
- Assist with daily routines within the classroom setting
- Support Supervision of children to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
- Observe and document children’s progress and behavior.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development.
- Follow all health, safety and City Policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (ECA certification or coursework is a strong asset).
- Experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting.
- Knowledge of child development and early learning principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Clear criminal background check and immunization records as required by local regulations.

- Familiarity with inclusive practices and diverse learning needs.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and classroom needs.
