The Ministry of Community Safety - Provincial Protective Services (PPS) is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and self-directed individual with extensive professional knowledge of Policing/Criminal Intelligence environments for the position of Manager of Intelligence within the Security Intelligence Unit (SIU).
Reporting to the Deputy Director of the SIU, you will have shared responsibility and oversight for PPS intelligence activities, ensuring consistency with industry standards, legal requirements and best practices. Additionally, this position provides a wide range of intelligence services including: gathering, documenting, storing and disseminating information and intelligence across PPS and to other law enforcement agencies; mentoring/coaching/training PPS supervisors and staff on intelligence processes, including disclosure requests; identifying intelligence gaps and effective strategies to address such gaps; and providing recommendations for program enhancements to mitigate threats to community safety.
You will oversee the PPS confidential human source program(s), including the management of informant registries, compensation requests and rewards to ensure a standard, consistent process is followed while simultaneously contributing to and providing technical expertise to the policy unit in the development of policy regarding the intelligence process and human source handling. You will develop oneself as a subject matter expert to create, coordinate and deliver human source training for PPS members and provide guidance/mentorship regarding informant handling best practices.
Your excellent communication skills will serve you well as you represent PPS on Provincial intelligence groups and committees; liaise with, build/maintain relationships with other law enforcement agencies at the federal, provincial and interprovincial levels; and perform target de-confliction with partners internal and external to PPS as required.
You will have a personal management style exemplified by respect and consultation, and will have demonstrated interpersonal skills to develop cohesive and respectful relationships within the Ministry and among key stakeholders.
Candidates will often obtain the knowledge and abilities required for this position through a post-secondary degree with related experience in law enforcement, specifically criminal intelligence. You will have proficient computer skills and demonstrated managerial experience.
The preferred location for the role is in Regina, SK, with consideration given to the position working out of Saskatoon or Prince Albert.
