JOB DESCRIPTION
As an Application Scientist, you will report to the Application Laboratory Manager. You will develop continuous-wave fiber optic systems and pulsed laser systems to test and evaluate the performance of the active optical fibers developed by the R&D team.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform testing and characterization of optical fiber products. Design laser systems and optical amplifiers. Develop models and perform simulations of photonic and fiber optic systems. Analyze, interpret, and present the results of performance testing and simulations. Communicate findings and recommendations to the optical fiber design team. Develop test methods, assemblies, and simulation tools to validate the optical performance of laser and optical amplifier prototypes. Plan and oversee the assembly of test benches used to characterize new production batches. Provide technical support and participate in the qualification of optical fiber components and systems. Contribute to scientific publications and monitor advancements in the field through ongoing technical and scientific literature reviews. Support the Quality team in failure analysis and investigations related to customer complaints. Participate in regular reviews of scientific articles and other publications covering technological innovations, emerging applications, and competitive products. Assist with the equipment procurement process by evaluating available market solutions, costs, quotations, and other relevant factors. Collect and compile performance data. Prepare technical reports. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Profil
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's or Ph.D. degree in Physical Engineering, Optoelectronics, or a related field. Minimum of three years of experience working in a photonics and optics laboratory. Strong knowledge of optical fibers; experience with COMSOL is considered an asset. Solid understanding of optical fiber components, fiber lasers, and fiber amplifiers. Hands-on experience assembling fiber laser systems. Experience with industrial manufacturing processes, including the commissioning of laboratory or production equipment, is considered an asset. Ability to follow rigorous and methodical processes. Proficiency in both French and English.

WORK CONDITIONS
Competitive annual salary ranging from $90,000 to $125,000, based on experience. Flexible work schedule. Permanent full-time position. Up to 40 hours of personal leave per year.
