Westerner Park is seeking a reliable and organized Event Venue Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs) to join our Event and Business Development team. This temporary, full-time role provides hands-on support for event setup, logistics coordination, contractor liaison, and staff scheduling to ensure seamless event operations.
As a key member of the venue operations team, the Event Venue Assistant contributes to the successful delivery of events by supporting setup, execution, and teardown, helping create safe, organized, and engaging experiences for guests and participants.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Entertainment & Venue Operations Specialist, the Event Venue Assistant supports all aspects of event venue operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Event Setup & Venue Support
- Assist with venue and site setup, including preparing spaces, arranging equipment, and implementing layout changes.
- Provide operational support during event preparation, execution, and teardown.
2. Logistics & Coordination
- Support event logistics by coordinating materials, supplies, and on-site requirements.
- Act as a liaison between contractors and venue operations to ensure smooth communication and workflow.
- Assist with staff scheduling and coordination to support event activities.
3. Administrative & Record-Keeping Support
- Complete administrative tasks such as data entry, record keeping, and general office support related to event planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation to support operational efficiency and reporting.
4. Team Collaboration & Flexibility
- Work closely with team members to ensure event operations run smoothly.
- Adapt to changing priorities and perform additional duties as assigned.
Key Deliverables
- Efficient and safe setup and teardown of event venues.
- Smooth coordination of materials, staff, and contractors during events.
- Accurate administrative records and documentation supporting event operations.
- Timely support for venue and event logistics ensuring overall event success.
What You’ll Bring
- Currently attending a business-related post-secondary program (an asset).
- Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to event setup (an asset).
- Eligibility for the Canada Summer Jobs Program.
