About Us
The Public Service Commission is the central human resource agency for the Government of Saskatchewan. The Commission provides leadership and policy direction to all ministries to enable a high-performing and innovative, professional public service.
The Human Resource Service Centre (HRSC) provides human resource benefits and payroll administration services to government and acts as the central contact point for all employee general HR-related inquiries. It is responsible for the design, development, implementation and operation of government-wide human resource information technology systems required for payroll purposes and human resource management.
The Opportunity
The HR Information Systems and Analytics branch at the HRSC is seeking two (2) results-driven, client-focused team players for the role of Configuration Specialist. This role will support the Government of Saskatchewan’s new cloud-based Human Resource (HR) Management systems. As the work varies from day to day, this position requires a self-starter with proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to identify solutions to complex problems.
Reporting to the Manager, Human Capital Management Systems Support, the Configuration Specialist will:
- Ensure HR Payroll and UKG system processes continue to adhere to human resources, payroll and workforce management policies;
- Evaluate system requests and solutions for viability and fit to requirements under tight deadlines;
- Collaborate with users and subject matter experts (SME) to gather business requirements and align requirements with system capabilities, policy, and legal and contractual obligations;
- Work closely with IT resources in system development, making feasible recommendations and testing changes to confirm accurate results; and
- Provide support through troubleshooting, configuration, and testing, and change management of HR Payroll and UKG system applications.
The Ideal Candidate:
Our candidate of choice will be focused, and goal and detailed oriented to ensure quality work. Along with strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will also demonstrate knowledge of:
- Relational database concepts, IT system and application design and setup, as well as testing concepts, theories, and principles;
- Programming concepts and languages such as SQL;
- Payroll and workforce management policies and procedures;
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and resolve complex processing issues;
- The ability to identify and evaluate alternatives; recommend solutions; design, configure, test and maintain HR applications; and
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to develop a variety of documents and explain or present both technical and non-technical information to others.
Typically, knowledge for this position would be attained through completion of a degree in Computer Science or Business Administration, along with at least 4 years’ working experience with Human Resource Management or Payroll or Workforce Management applications.
