The Opportunity
The Strategic Policy and Competitiveness Division’s Regulatory Modernization Unit is seeking a curious, insightful, and highly adaptable individual to join us as a Senior Regulatory Advisor. In this role, you will navigate complex environments, pivot across diverse policy, program, and operational areas, and apply strong judgment with a strategic perspective. With exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship‑building skills, you will help connect people and ideas to drive meaningful change across government.
As part of Saskatchewan’s regulatory modernization and red tape reduction efforts, your work will span government, helping remove barriers, strengthen regulatory systems, and support long‑term prosperity for Saskatchewan people.
Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Modernization, Planning & Performance, Financial Programs, you will:
- Lead Secretariat duties for Cabinet’s Red Tape Reduction Committee, providing advice, support, and analysis to advance regulatory modernization outcomes;
- Advance initiatives across government (e.g., removal of business irritants) to resolve issues, remove barriers, and support of investment and innovation;
- Research, develop and implement leading practices that position Saskatchewan as a leader in modern, streamlined regulatory approaches;
- Monitor and assess emerging trends and international standards to ensure Saskatchewan’s regulatory environment remains competitive and aligned with best‑in‑class approaches;
- Harmonize and integrate regulatory performance and accountability planning tools with the provincial government wide planning and accountability processes;
- Provide guidance to all Ministries, Agencies and Crowns to ensure they adopt expected principles and meet performance standards related to regulatory work planning, red tape reviews, risk management and red tape reduction reporting; and
- Develop and deliver training and education material to increase government and non-government stakeholder awareness, build government-wide capacity, improve accountability and encourage effective participation to modernize regulatory requirements and reduce government red tape.
As our successful candidate, you will have:

- Political acumen and experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on sensitive issues;
- Excellent communication skills, including effective facilitation, clear articulation of complex information, and preparation of high‑quality briefing materials;
- Proven ability to build strong relationships across diverse stakeholders;
- Demonstrated success advancing strategic initiatives and achieving results in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment;
- Leadership strengths that foster inclusion, engagement, innovation, and a collaborative team culture;
- Research skills and experience translating information into clear options and recommendations;
- A solid understanding of business planning, accountability processes, and risk management; and
- Demonstrated dedication to the Government of Saskatchewan's Commitment to Excellence – respect and integrity, serving citizens, excellence and innovation, and to act as one team.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a university degree in business administration, commerce, economics, or a related discipline. Project management and/or change management designation would be considered an asset, as would a minimum of three years’ experience in related areas such as strategic policy, legislation, or regulatory work.
