About Us
Fuerte Metals is a Vancouver-based exploration and development company advancing base and precious metals projects across the Americas. Our agship asset, the 100%-owned Coffee Gold Project in Canada’s Yukon Territory, is a high-quality gold project progressing through nal permitting and engineering in preparation for a construction decision. Role Purpose
To ensure that the geotechnical engineering at the Coffee Gold Project is completed to the highest standards including designed, constructed, operated safely and reliably, meeting all production targets. This role is a member of the Technical Services Team, reports to the Engineering Manager.
Role Accountabilities
- Lead geotechnical aspects of the project such as solution ponds, embankments, and associated earthworks.
- Develop and review design criteria, geotechnical models, stability analyses, deformation assessments, seepage analyses, and thermal modelling to support cold-climate facility performance.
- Apply sound engineering judgment to cold-climate geotechnical challenges, including frozen ground behavior, seasonal variability, and long-term thermal performance.
- Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with construction and operational realities.
- Provide geotechnical input to FS, detailed engineering, and optimization studies.
- Review and support Quality Management (QM) programs, earthworks specications, and liner system installation procedures.
- Participate in site inspections, review eld and laboratory testing results, and resolve non-conformances.
- Develop and oversee geotechnical monitoring programs (e.g., piezometers, inclinometers, settlement monuments).
- Support the development and implementation of facility governance frameworks and OMS / OMS Manuals aligned with Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) Protocols.
- Support compliance with applicable legislation and guidance, including the Canadian Dam Act.
- Contribute to regulatory submissions, technical reports, and engagement with regulators and independent reviewers.
Qualications
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) eligible in Yukon
- Master’s degree preferred
Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering experience with demonstrated experience in heap leach facilities.
- Experience with cold-climate geotechnical engineering, remote mine sites, Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) Protocols, and the Canadian Dam Act is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience translating complex information for different audiences
- Prociency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Understanding of Indigenous customs and cultures, particularly Yukon Indigenous Peoples, is considered an
- asset
Work Location & Conditions
- Location: Yukon Territories, Canada
- Remote based role with a preference for Yukon based candidates
- Standard 5-day work week with frequent travel to site, which could include weekends from time to time
- Periodic travel to and across the Yukon and Vancouver required
Expected Compensation
- $190,000 - $210,000 – Dependent on experience
