About the role
Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy (AZIA) is seeking an energetic and responsible Summer Day Camp Lead to plan, coordinate, and oversee a safe and engaging summer program for elementary-aged children. The Camp Lead will supervise staff, manage daily operations, and ensure a positive, inclusive, and well- structured camp experience.
Summer camps in Canada typically involve structured group activities, supervision, and leadership of youth in a safe environment .
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a structured daily camp program (games, arts, sports, field trips)
- Supervise and support camp staff and volunteers
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times
- Manage attendance, schedules, and daily logistics
- Communicate with parents and school administration
- Organize and oversee field trips and special activities
- Maintain a positive and inclusive environment aligned with school values
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Experience working with children (camp, school, or childcare setting)
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage groups of children in a dynamic environment
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Clear Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector)
Preferred
- Background in education, recreation, or child/youth work
- Experience planning camp or group programming
