About the role
Job Summary
We’re looking for a creative, organized, and digitally savvy Social Media Intern to support our online presence and help amplify Hackergal’s mission to inspire girls* and gender-diverse learners in STEAM. This role is perfect for someone who loves storytelling, keeps up with social trends, and wants hands-on experience growing a purpose-driven brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, schedule, and publish engaging and relevant content across Hackergal’s social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Facebook).
- In collaboration with the Marketing Team, monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and support community management.
- Track analytics and help prepare weekly performance summaries.
- Assist in developing social content calendars and brainstorming fresh, inclusive, youth-friendly content ideas.
- Edit short-form videos, graphics, and reels using Canva or similar tools.
- Support live event coverage during hackathons, workshops, and special campaigns.
- Maintain organized asset folders and assist with digital storytelling projects as needed.
- May support other marketing related projects
- May require local travel to events to capture footage!
- Other duties as assigned
What you’ll bring:
- Passion for digital storytelling, social media, and empowering youth in STEAM.
- Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility as well as promoting a respectful office, working and learning environment
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable creating graphics or short videos (Opportunity to learn and use Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express, etc.).
- Ability to film and create exciting content.
- Comfortable being featured on camera for social media.
- Familiarity with trending formats on Instagram and TikTok.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate with a small, mission-driven team.

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs! As such, candidates must meet the criteria met through the program. Applicants must be between the ages of 15-30 to be considered, and a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Refugee and hold a valid Social Insurance Number.
