Hours:
Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00pm, occasional evenings and weekends (as needed)
Emergency contact for all Housing issues
** Direct Reports:** two (2) staff – Maintenance and Custodian
** Committee Participation:** OH&S/Joint Health and Safety
** Salary – Wage:** competitive salary based on qualifications and BSPSEA exempt grid
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Housing Manager oversees the rental property management and maintenance including Property Management, Maintenance, Stakeholder relations, operational planning and staffing of the School District 92 rental units.
The Housing manager will assist with the development of policies, procedures and related documentation as required. The Housing manager will report and present program on mandates as required. In alignment with BCPSEA and utilizing the BC Housing/ residential and tenancy act, although the School District is exempt – the program will abide by the minimum requirements set forth.
This position must maintain a high level of understanding of current emerging practices in housing/tenancy policy, safety, privacy and confidentiality of data and data management. Will act as the first point of contact for residents and emergency services.
Key Responsibilities:

Property Management: Oversees operating expenses, tenancy management, damage deposit and rent collection, and enforcement of agreements. Prepare reports as required.

Maintenance: Oversees and completes annual inspections, regular maintenance, building deficiencies, renovations and maintenance programs for safety and comfort. Manage contracted projects for cost, progress and INSPECTIONS

Stakeholder Relations: Lead housing meetings and attend required staff meetings. Collaborate with District personnel and departments as required. Responds to enquiries from tenants, SD92 personnel and community agencies to manage sensitive issues. Address tenant concerns/inquiries.

Operational Planning: Collaborates on the long-term accommodations plan for the district, annual budgets, monitors expenditures, and sets staffing plans. Prepare and administer contracts for provision of property services, such as cleaning, maintenance, security and alarm systems.

Housing staffing: Selection and onboarding, direction and supervision, coaches, and evaluates staff performance, including handling grievances and terminations. Weekly staff meetings. Qualifications and Experience

British Columbia Educational Facility Managers Association membership in good standing

A valid BC driver’s license
-
Proven experience with housing/accommodation program management or similar role.

Proven experience in a supervisory or management role
-
Experience with Microsoft 360 and good communication skills
-
Experience in managing budgets, resources, and a safe working environment

Emergency Management experience as an asset

Familiar with Nisga’a Culture and Language
