About the role
Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring aCategory Management Specialiston a temporary basis (up to 6 months) on our Home and Building Solutions (HABS) team. This position is a hybrid opportunity and can be based anywhere in Western Canada.
Support Category Managers in developing category plans for Home Centre locations within the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS). If you are organized, have a strong attention to detail, and enjoy working in fast paced environments, come join our team today!
What you’ll do:
- Support Category Managers with category reviews, assortment planning, and data analysis to drive category growth and profitability.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize planograms to ensure effective product flow, accurate shelf sets, and strong sales performance.
- Analyze product movement, listings, pricing, and weekly reports to recommend item updates, inventory adjustments, and merchandising improvements.
- Assist in creating and executing pricing strategies and promotional plans to strengthen competitiveness and enhance margins.
- Collaborate with vendors to obtain samples, POS materials, and displayers, and communicate with retail teams to resolve planogram-related issues.
- Contribute to special projects and provide KPI ‑ focused reporting to support departmental goals.
Who you’ll work with: **The Team:**You will work closely with and report into the Category Manager. This team strives to cultivate a culture of collaboration, problem-solving and team building.
**The Collaborators:**You will work closely with other functions in our consumer products business unit including System Maintenance Associates and Procurement Specialists by providing industry knowledge, buying knowledge, and supplier information.
**The Customers:**You will demonstrate customer focus while supporting our local Co-op home centre locations.

Who you are: You are looking for a career in Category Management and :
- You have 1 – 3 years of relevant wholesale or retail experience, preferably in hardware or building materials categories. Category management and purchasing experience would be an asset.
- You have a degree in marketing or general business (a combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered).
- Are honest, trustworthy, results oriented, and strive to be the best in what you do.
- Believe in collaboration, building relationships and value the perspectives of others.
