**Position Summary:**The General Duty Nurse II (GDN II) in the Crisis Stabilization Unit provides crisis intervention services for clients, their families and caregivers. The GDN II assumes the leadership role for the intake assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation of care toward the resolution of the crisis for clients. The GDN II is responsible for maintaining the highest standard of service to clients, upholding the standards of the Crisis Stabilization Unit and accessing supervision/authority according to policy and guidelines. The GDN II is responsible for mental health crisis stabilization which includes: education for clients, families/supports and external agencies, administration (and monitoring of effects) of medications and treatments ordered by the physician, documentation of care, and the integrity of the file, discharge planning and collaboration with partner agencies.
Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (e.g., BN, BPN, BScN, BScMH,) required.
- Or RN, RPN with (preferred) three years’ experience in a related clinical setting.
- Current member in good standing of a professional/licensing body, evidence of this to be submitted each year.
- Valid Basic CPR Certification required.
- ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) required.
- Valid Manitoba Driver’s License.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills. Satisfactory employment record required.
