Chair, Social Work and Community Studies Reference
Salary: $100,024 to $129,026 per year
Location: Slave Lake

Qualifications:
- Master of social work (MSW) and Registered Social Worker (RSW)
- 5 years’ working in social work position(s)
- Minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience
- A clean criminal record check prior to commencement
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license
Assets:
- Doctorate degree in a related field
- Considerable experience working with diverse groups
Nature and Scope of Work:
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Health, Human Services, and University Studies, the Chair, Social Work and Community Studies, is responsible for the overall supervision, administration, and operation of the department. Included in this portfolio are the Addictions Counselling Diploma, Social Work Diploma, and Child and Youth Care Programs. This position contributes to the College’s strategic and business planning, oversees the program areas, and the department services, operations, performance and budgets. Including providing leadership and support to faculty and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administration
- Recruitment
- Implementing College policies, procedures, and regulations
- Planning and implementing program initiatives
- Setting and monitoring program delivery standards
- Evaluating program deliver
- Managing student issues
- Preparing and monitoring department budgets
- Strategic planning for specific program units and for the department
- Preparation of internal College documents such as program plans and program reviews
- Program monitoring
- Preparation of external documents
- Ensuring programs maintain approval from external regulatory bodies
Management
- Monitoring and evaluating employee performance
- Identifying, organizing, and approving professional development opportunities
- Communities Studies programs operations and performance
- Personnel management including staff and faculty
- Financial management
- Liaison with other College departments and external agencies
Corporate Administration
- Adhering to College operations and procedures
- working effectively with other College departments and community organizations such as government organizations, partnering educational institutions, and outside agencies
- Participating in the management of the department
Leadership
- Planning
