OVERVIEW

**St. Joseph's Catholic School **provides a dynamic, relevant and faith-filled Catholic education to approximately 175 students in grades K-7. The school has a long tradition of academic excellence and aims to foster an awareness of self within a Christian community. St. Joseph's is located in beautiful **Smithers ** BC, a vibrant hub in Central British Columbia with many outdoor pursuits. The principal will be part of an administrative team consisting of seven principals (located in five northern communities), the Director of Learning Services, and the Superintendent who meet regularly to share their school experiences and support one another.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
~ Be an instructional/faith leader, with passion, ensuring all learners thrive and can encounter Christ each day. See the role of the CISPG **Principal **including the Domains and Leadership standards.
~ Support, collaborate and effectively communicate with all stakeholders: parents, staff, and community.
~ Develop and sustain a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
~ Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• BC teacher certification and possession of or working toward a Master's degree
• Minimum of 6 years of successful teaching experience; prefer experience with multiple grades
• Successful leadership experience and a thorough knowledge of the BC curriculum
• Practicing Catholic with a positive **Pastor Reference **
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others and exercise good judgement
• Superior skills in communication and problem-solving
• Knowledge and successful experience working respectfully with First Peoples and integrating the First Peoples Principals of Learning into the school culture
• Knowledge of Inclusive Education policies and procedures
• Ability to support and direct staff in implementing Ministry requirements and **CISPG Policies **
