Job Title: Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering Designer
Job Summary
The Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering Designer designs and supports
electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems for Salford products, ensuring functionality and reliability. This role involves creating detailed designs, performing calculations, testing prototypes, and maintaining accurate documentation while collaborating across teams. The position also provides technical support and contributes to project planning to meet timelines and budget requirements.
Responsibility
- Plan and develop mechanical, hydraulic, & electronic designs for new and existing products
- Develop and maintain hydraulic and electrical system schematics.
- Develop and maintain control system operation instructions.
- Develop and execute testing processes
- Perform engineering calculations and document results
- Participate in design reviews and provide input
- Maintain documentation for systems and components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system integration
- Assist in troubleshooting and provide technical support
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate product design risks.
- Product verification and validation through lab and field testing.
- Occasional travel to support product field testing
- Supporting cross-functional activities (purchasing, manufacturing, quality, publications, product support, etc.).
- Review, approve and release drawings, models and other documentation
Academic/Educational Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Engineering program or related field
Required Skills/Experience
Agricultural, Construction, Forestry, Mining or other related experience in
mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical design considered an asset

Understanding of mobile machine electronic and hydraulic control systems considered an asset

Good aptitude for electronics and control systems

Coding experience considered an asset (C or C++ preferred)

Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Automation Studio an asset)

Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

Effective communication and adaptability

Passionate about designing innovative, high performing and reliable machinery

Demonstrated ability to work on a team across functions and cultures

Able to work on multiple projects and bring to successful completion in a timely manner

Mechanical aptitude, both hands-on work and design capabilities.

Background in agriculture, forestry, or heavy mobile machinery is a plus.
