About the role
Project
TheWoodfibre LNGProject is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.
**Woodfibre Management Ltd.**is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.
Position
TheOperations Shift Traineris an integral part ofWoodfibre LNG’s dynamic Operations team. The successful candidate reports directly to theShift Superintendent. This role will be based on the Project Site, in Squamish, BC., and you will play an essential part in supporting the company’s operations team through the Operations Readiness Assurance Phase into and into the Operational Phase of the project. During Operational Phase asOperations Shift Traineryou will also be a key contributor that the environmental practices and social responsibilities to the community, which are held to the uppermost standards as set out by Woodfibre LNG.
Key Responsibilities**:**
The successful applicant will:
- Be accountable to assess and certify Operations Technicians to be qualified to operate in areas of competence.
- Be accountable for the training and development plans of all employees on their shift, including supervision and front line employees, including reporting on progress and any corrective actions
- Deliver training (classroom, field, modules,) as required to ensure compliance with regulations and training and development plans
- Be part of ORA (Operations Readiness Assurance) Core Team member. Support delivery of a Competency Assessment Management system.
- Develop the WLNG competency standard and expectations for performance against which employees will be assessed
- Develop procedures, manuals and training material to achieve certification of technicians.
- Participate in the roll-out and training of the e-PTW system. Ensuring competency and certification of trainees.
- Ensure a functional Shift Team capable of supporting LNG production on a continuous basis.
- Mentor and influence personnel for implementation of best practices.
- Active member of the Shift Team Incident Command Post, taking the role of On Scene Commander or any leadership role assigned by the Incident Commander
- Lead or participate in incident investigations and ensure implementation of recommended improvements.
- Participate in recruitment teams for hiring Operations Technicians.
- Fulfill the Operations Shift Supervisor role during absences for company meetings, vacations, leaves or otherwise and act as part of operations on-shift leadership team.
HSSE
- 100% compliance with company HSE policies and guidelines.
- Champion HSE as a member of the LNG Operations Team.
- Lead HSE Shift Meeting/ safety walks/audits if and when required.
- Timely intervention to mitigate risks and ensure safety of personnel and plant.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to influence overall safety behavior in the plant.
- Ensure that Shift Operations Emergency Response capabilities are 100% met during shift period.
Requirements
Required Experience**:**
- Minimum 5-10 years of LNG operations experience, as well as experience in Oil & Gas Production Facilities.
- APCI LNG Technology experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- 4th Class Power Engineering Diploma as a minimum.
- Assessor Certified will take preference.
- Previous experience as an LNG Operations Technician.
- Previous experience during Operations Readiness and Assurance and Start-Up of an LNG facility.
- Previous experience as a trainer of employees
- ICS Certification and Emergency Response experience.
Additional Requirements**:**
- Motivated person with a mentoring and coaching approach “One Team “.
- Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
- Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams, and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
- Communication/interpersonal skills – to be able to interact with front line workers through to management.
- Competent written and verbal communication skills.
- Motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks.
- Ability to work well under pressure handling tasks, targets and changing priorities within tight time frames.
- Shares knowledge readily and encourages personal development.
- Willingness to work 12-hour shift rotation and M-F 40-hour work week schedules.
- Expertise with a variety of computer programs (e.g. MS Office).
- A valid driver’s license (with abstract) and passport. -Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Benefits

The Woodfibre LNG Project is operated by Woodfibre Management Ltd, a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Woodfibre LNG facility is being built on the site of the former Woodfibre pulp mill site, which is located about seven kilometers southwest of Squamish, B.C. on the traditional and unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).
Woodfibre LNG is the first LNG export facility in the world to commit to achieving net zero emissions by 2027.
During construction, Woodfibre LNG expects a peak workforce of more than 800 individuals, with over 100 long-term operating positions at the facility once construction is complete.
