About the role
Position Summary The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing divisions to ensure efficient service delivery, high-quality workmanship, and effective coordination between field technicians, office staff, and sales teams. This role ensures that projects and service calls are completed safely, professionally, on time, and within budget while maintaining company standards and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Operations & Service ManagementOversee the daily operations of HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing service and installation departments. Coordinate daily and weekly scheduling of technicians, installers, and service personnel. Ensure all service calls, installations, and projects are completed correctly, safely, and professionally. Monitor operational performance and implement improvements to increase efficiency and productivity. Address operational issues in the field and develop solutions to improve workflow and service delivery. Project & Sales CoordinationWork closely with the sales team to coordinate upcoming projects, installations, and service calls. Ensure departments receive accurate drawings, job specifications, and work orders prior to job start. Monitor project progress and ensure work meets company standards and timelines. Team Leadership & Workforce ManagementLead, supervise, and mentor technicians, installers, and support staff. Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and termination of employees when necessary. Ensure employees follow company policies, procedures, and scheduled work hours. Review and approve employee timesheets for payroll processing. Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and safety. Equipment, Materials & Resource ManagementEnsure technicians have the proper tools, equipment, and materials to perform their work efficiently. Coordinate and order materials, parts, and equipment required for jobs and service calls. Ensure company vehicles are properly maintained and serviced. Monitor inventory and coordinate with suppliers to maintain adequate stock levels. Compliance & SafetyEnsure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards. Promote and enforce workplace safety practices for all field and office employees. Ensure work is performed according to applicable codes and regulations for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. Financial & Operational OversightAssist with managing departmental budgets and operational costs. Ensure customer billing is being completed on a timely basis. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as job completion rates, labor efficiency, and service performance. Collaborate with senior management to set operational goals and implement strategic plans to support business growth. Qualifications5+ years of experience in operations management within HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or construction/service industries. Strong knowledge of field service operations and trade workflows. Experience managing technicians, installers, and service teams. Strong scheduling, project coordination, and resource management skills. Familiarity with safety regulations and industry codes. Valid driver’s license.
