Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) is seeking an accomplished healthcare executive to serve as Senior Operating Officer, Provincial Specialty Programs and Corridor Lead. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Delivery and Operations, this role is accountable for the provincial performance and delivery of high-quality, patient-centred and compassionate specialty services across Alberta. The Senior Operating Officer will lead a diverse portfolio that includes allied health, adult day programs, transition units, specialized geriatric programs, wound care, CHOICES, outpatient services and rehabilitation programs. The role will balance consistent provincial standards with responsive corridor and site-level leadership, supporting safe care, operational performance and seamless transitions across operators, care settings and communities. As Corridor Lead, the successful candidate will coordinate issue resolution and provide representation for select provincial programs. Working with clinical and operational leaders, medical partners, service providers and community organizations, the role will advance integrated care, workforce strategy, quality improvement and service transformation. Description

The Senior Operating Officer, Provincial Specialty Programs and Corridor Lead provides executive leadership for provincial delivery, performance and integration of specialty programs. The role oversees direct service delivery, case management, care coordination and operations across multiple living environments, ensuring consistent, compassionate and high-quality care. Working in partnership with a medical leader and operation leaders, including Transition and Navigation Services, Planning, Performance and Quality, Medical Leadership, People and Engagement, contracting and business supports, the position translates provincial standards into operational practice. Accountabilities include quality and safety performance, accreditation readiness, regulatory compliance, service provider relationships, complaint resolution, workforce deployment, professional education and transformation initiatives. The Senior Operating Officer has full operational and financial accountability for the portfolio and leads 7 direct and approximately 2,315 indirect reports across unionized and non-union employee groups. The role builds leadership capacity, addresses recruitment and retention challenges in specialized disciplines and promotes accountability, collaboration, learning and ethical decision-making. As ALA's senior service representative for the portfolio, the position develops provincial and national partnerships, supports corridor-based issue resolution and advances coordinated, person- and family-centred care across Alberta.

Required Qualifications

A Masters degree in a healthcare profession, healthcare management or business administration. A minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, with significant experience in allied health, specialized programs, or multi-disciplinary care delivery. Demonstrated success in establishing and leading specialized clinical programs at a provincial or system level. Proven ability to manage large, diverse professional teams across multiple disciplines and geographies. Experience in functional leadership models and centralized professional oversight.

Additional Required Qualifications

The successful candidate brings strong executive leadership, systems thinking and operational judgement, with the ability to balance provincial program consistency with local relationships and site-level requirements. Demonstrated experience leading service delivery, quality and safety improvement, workforce planning, change implementation and performance management across a large, geographically dispersed healthcare environment is required. Ability to build effective partnerships with medical leaders, service providers, professional groups, unions, community organizations and internal portfolios. Strong communication, influence and issue-management skills are required, including the ability to resolve complex operational concerns, respond to patient and family complaints and translate performance findings into corrective action and sustainable improvement. Experience overseeing budgets, resource allocation, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness and professional standards is required. Demonstrates a commitment to person- and family-centred care, ethical decision-making, collaboration, accountability and continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification in allied health leadership, rehabilitation management, or specialized clinical leadership. Experience in continuing care or community health specialized programs. Familiarity with allied health professional standards and regulatory requirements in Alberta.
