#Position Overview
Join us in a role where your expertise truly transforms lives. As a Clinical Counsellor, you’ll provide compassionate, evidence-based support to children and families, guiding them through transitions, reunifications, and challenges while promoting overall wellness and safety. Working across homes, community spaces, and our office, you’ll collaborate with caregivers, parents, and partners to create meaningful change and help families thrive.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will provide individual, couple, and family therapeutic interventions across homes, community settings, and the office, using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches. They will conduct assessments, develop and implement service plans, and collaborate with families, MCFD, and community partners to set and achieve clear, meaningful goals. The role includes offering clinical support to Family Preservation Workers, participating in integrated case management, maintaining accurate records, staying current on best practices and community resources, and providing referrals and reports to ensure comprehensive, client-centered care.
#Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, with eligibility for professional registration (RCC preferred, with at least two years of relevant experience. They bring expertise in trauma-informed, culturally responsive counselling across individuals, couples, and families, and are skilled in assessments, developing therapeutic service plans, and crisis intervention. The role requires strong collaboration with clients, MCFD, and community partners, proficiency in making referrals, and maintaining accurate records in line with MCFD, COA, and agency standards.
The role may involve work during both daytime and evening hours.
As this role requires community outreach or home visiting, a Class 5 unrestricted driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
Proficiency in a second language is an asset, as we serve clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
This position is open to all applicants and requires union membership.
An eligibility list may be maintained for up to six months. Eligible applicants may be offered a casual position.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
