The Aquatic Invasive Species Program is seeking passionate and energetic individuals to fill Watercraft Inspector positions across Manitoba. Positions are based in Winnipeg (roving), The Pas, and Minnedosa. Roving positions are headquartered out of Winnipeg and will be expected to travel, rotating through various locations throughout Manitoba for one week at a time for the duration of the position.
Duties:
The Aquatic Invasive Species Watercraft Inspector plays an integral role in enforcing Manitoba's Aquatic Invasive Species Regulation, particularly inspecting and decontaminating watercraft and water-related equipment, communicating with and educating the public about the Province's Aquatic Invasive Species Program; and promoting and educating the public about the stewardship practices they must employ to prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species in Manitoba. Successful candidates will be expected to work evenings and weekends including statutory holidays and outdoors in various weather conditions. Roving positions will be expected to travel throughout Manitoba for extended periods of time and coordinate site plans, and communicate with landowners and provincial staff. Please note that in order to be considered for a roving postion, the criteriea of driving trucks and hauling trailers are essential.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience working with the public, stakeholders and interest groups.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to work under pressure.
- Effective written communication skills.
Desired:
- Experience driving a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton truck.
- Experience loading and hauling trailers.
- Education, experience and/or training related to environmental issues.
Conditions of Employment:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba class 5 driver's licence or equivalent out of province licence.

Must be physically able to perform the duites of the position including working in various weather conditions, outdoors for extended periods of time, bending, kneeling and lifting up to 22 kg (50 lbs).

Must be willing and able to work irregular shifts including evenings, weekends, statutory holidays and overtime as required.
