continuously maintained homelands in northern

Manitoba since time immemorial. The First

Nations in the area that UCN serves entered into

region these include signatories to treaties 4, 5 -

and the treaty 5 adhesion, and treaty 6 - located

within the treaty 5 adhesion). The territory has

also become home to other Indigenous peoples.

DUTIES Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Academic Quality and Excellence, the Indigenous Curriculum and Pedagogy Consultant (ICPC)

plays a key role in advancing reconciliation and Indigenization across the institution. The Indigenous Curriculum and Pedagogy Consultant

will lead and support efforts to ensure that Indigenous knowledges, philosophies, and teaching methodologies are part of UCN’s curricula

and programs. The successful incumbent will collaborate with faculty, the Council of Elders, community Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and

Indigenous communities to ensure that Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing are meaningfully reflected across disciplines. The

incumbent will contribute to institutional initiatives that strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities and advance UCN’s

commitment to reconciliation, decolonization, and the respectful integration of Indigenous worldviews in education.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Masters degree in Indigenous Studies or Education. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

• Knowledge of Indigenous cultures including practices specific to Indigenous knowledge, concepts and pedagogies

• Experience in working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers

• Traditional knowledge

• Ability to work with a broad range of individuals

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Effective time management skills

• Commitment to life-long learning

ASSETS

• Experience teaching/working in a post-secondary environment

• Experience in curriculum design and development

• Ability to speak an Indigenous language

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Candidates must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s license; as travel is required
