ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Clinical Manager – Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program and to the Regional Director, Indigenous Partnerships –N’doo’owe Binesi, the OSP Indigenous Engagement Lead will take a lead role in developing a communication and engagement plan with Indigenous partners including Indigenous peoples, communities, and organizations.

Key responsibilities of this role will include developing meaningful and collaborative relationships that will inform service planning and improvements of the OSP program. This includes working towards building an Indigenous clinical stream of culturally safe and culturally grounded service.

Responsibilities also include building upon existing relationships with organizations and OSP partners and developing a plan to achieve the OSP program vision of ensuring Indigenous peoples receive fair, equitable, and culturally safe and culturally appropriate services.

The preferred candidate will have experience in service delivery rooted in people-centered care, anti-racist practice and experience working with Indigenous peoples and communities locally and within remote northern communities.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• A minimum of an undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field with demonstrated knowledge of local and regional Indigenous cultures; languages, ceremonies and traditional healing practices

• Recognized and respected within Indigenous communities for providing leadership, advocacy and supportive care

• Understanding of the systemic barriers and health inequity issues experienced by Indigenous peoples, and a demonstrated commitment to Indigenous rights and social justice

• Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous governance structures and protocols, organizations, communities, and geographic territories within the Northwest regions

• Experience working with Indigenous people and communities is required

• Lived experience will be recognized as equivalent to formal education where applicable

Skills/Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to identify systemic issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue quality improvement

• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to effectively communicate and collaborate with Indigenous peoples, communities, agencies, leadership teams, OSP regional and provincial teams and Service Delivery Sites partners

• Skills related to preparing presentations and the ability to connect with the target audiences

• Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point and Outlook)

• Demonstrated problem solving, organizational, time management and project management skills

• Passionate about contributing to positive social change and commitment to anti-oppression and anti-racism

• Knowledge of northern Indigenous communities and cultural differences across communities

• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Asset:

• Registered member in good standing with applicable professional college in Ontario is considered an asset (e.g. College of Nurses of Ontario, Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, Ontario College of Psychologists, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario

• Experience working with LGBTQ2S+ individuals is an asset
