About the role
The Long Grass & Weed Inspector (Student) will investigate complaints and initiate proactive enforcement to ensure compliance with the provisions of Newmarket’s Clean Yards By-law. The Grass & Weed Inspector will conduct site inspections, collect evidence, maintain files, prepare general correspondence and notices to property owners, and discuss resolution of issues with residents. The Grass & Weed Inspector will be responsible for general public awareness and education associated with grass and weed maintenance and will liaise with the Town contractors to facilitate work on behalf of the municipality.
Job Requirements

Formal academic training in law enforcement.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated communication skills (both verbal and written) at an intermediate level.

Demonstrated interpersonal and mediation skills.

Demonstrated ability to carry out multiple tasks or projects with attention to detail.
-
Must be customer service oriented and use tact and diplomacy to deal courteously and effectively with the public.

Exhibited maturity and judgment.
-
Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing and a clean Driver’s Abstract.

Ability to work shifts and weekends on a rotating basis.
